Child nurse

profession and activity

The provision of nursing care to children, including newborns, is considered to be the profession of a child nurse. In addition, the child nurse, in cooperation with a physician or dentist, participates in preventive, curative, diagnostic, rehabilitative, palliative, urgent or dispensary care.

The professional qualification to practice the child nursing profession is obtained by completing a) at least three years of an accredited medical bachelor's study program for nursing, b) at least three years of studies in the field of graduate child nurse at a higher medical school, c) studies in the field of graduate child nurse at a higher medical school in the length of at least one year in the case of a health professional who has acquired professional competence to practice the occupation of practical nurse, general nurse, health rescue worker or midwife, if he/she has been admitted to a higher than the first year of education, or d) studies in the field of child nursing at a secondary medical school, if the first year study was started at the latest in the school year 1996/1997.
