The profession of professional expert in the protection and promotion of public health is considered to be activity related to the performance of state health surveillance in the framework of the protection and promotion of public health according to special legal regulations. The performance of the profession of professional in the protection and promotion of public health is not considered to be the exercise of state health supervision. In addition, a specialist in the protection and promotion of public health in cooperation with a physician performs tasks in the field of disease prevention and protection and promotion of public health.

Professional qualifications for pursuing the profession of specialist in the protection and promotion of public health shall be obtained by completing by a) an accredited health master’s study in the field for the preparation of Specialist in public health protection and promotion, or b) an accredited master’s study programme in biological and mathematics-physics an accredited qualification course in Specialist in public health protection and promotion.
