The profession of dental technician is considered to be medical and preventive care activity in which, on the basis of the indication and design of the dentist, he/she produces, modifies and corrects all types of dental products, including dental prostheses and orthodontic aids.

Professional qualifications for pursuing the profession of dental technician shall be acquired by completing a) at least a three-year study in the field of the certified dental technician at higher paramedical colleges, or b) a secondary medical school in the field of the dental technician or the dental technician for persons having hearing defects if the first year of study is started at the latest in the school year 2004/2005.
